Clinical Supervision & Consultation

Supervision that prepares you to be the clinician you want to be.

Your early professional years shape the rest of your career. You deserve a supervisor who is invested in your growth, knows the licensure and certification process inside and out, and makes supervision something you look forward to rather than something you get through.

As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHCS), Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), CACREP site reviewer, and Associate Dean and Program Director of a doctoral program in Counselor Education and Supervision, I offer supervision grounded in how counselors are trained, evaluated, and supported.

In supervision, that experience becomes practical. I know what strong clinical work looks like, where new counselors tend to get stuck, and how to help you build the skills and confidence to move past challenges. You'll get the rigor of an educator and the support of a supervisor who genuinely wants to see you succeed.

Who I Work With

Supervision Toward Licensure and Certification

  • LCMHCAs working toward full licensure in North Carolina

  • CRC candidates working in rehabilitation counseling settings

Consultation and Professional Development

  • Newly licensed clinicians looking for ongoing case consultation

  • New and aspiring supervisors building their supervision skills and identity

  • Counselors in agency and community settings

  • Clinicians from related disciplines (social work, addictions, and others) seeking case consultation outside their formal licensure supervision

  • Clinicians interested in rehabilitation counseling, co-occurring disorders, doctoral study, and other specialties

Supervision and consultation options

  • Individual Supervision (LCMHCA and CRC candidates)
One-on-one sessions focused on your cases, your clinical skills, and your professional development.

  • Triadic Supervision
You and one other supervisee meet with me together. For LCMHCAs, this counts as individual supervision under NC board rules and costs less per person.

  • Group Supervision
Two-hour sessions with up to 4 supervisees for case consultation, skill-building, and peer learning. It supplements individual supervision.

  • Clinical Consultation (licensed clinicians and related disciplines)
Case consultation, ethics questions, or support as you grow your practice.

  • Supervisor Consultation
Mentoring for new LCMHCSs and supervisors-in-training on supervision models, ethics, gatekeeping, documentation, and handling difficult conversations with supervisees.

All sessions are offered via secure video telehealth. In-person sessions are available in the Charlotte/Belmont area by request, at my office in Belmont, NC.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How much supervision do I need for LCMHC licensure?
NC requires at least one hour of individual supervision (or two hours of group) for every 40 hours of practice, and at least 75% of your supervision hours must be individual. We'll build a schedule that works for you and aligns with your timeline and goals.

  • Does telehealth supervision count?
For LCMHCAs, yes. The NC Licensure Board permits synchronous video supervision as long as it's live and interactive.

  • Can I work with you if my employer already provides supervision?
Yes. Many associates add an outside supervisor for additional support or a different perspective. Each supervisor files their own contract and reports with the board. I did this when I was an LCMHCA!

  • Can you supervise my experience toward the CRC exam?
Yes. As a CRC, I can provide the supervision that lets eligible candidates qualify with 12 months of acceptable work experience. Your position must meet CRCC's criteria for acceptable rehabilitation counseling employment: your role must be as a counselor in a setting that provides rehabilitation counseling services to individuals with disabilities, with at least half your time spent in direct rehabilitation counseling. I'm happy to review your situation during a free consultation.

  • Can you supervise me for both LCMHC licensure and the CRC?
Yes. If your position meets both sets of requirements, one supervision relationship can support both goals.

  • I'm an LCSWA or LCASA. Can you supervise me for licensure?
North Carolina requires LCSWAs to be supervised by an LCSW, and addiction specialist associates by a Certified Clinical Supervisor, so I can't provide supervision that counts toward those licenses. I'm glad to offer clinical consultation alongside your required supervision, and I'm happy to help you think through finding the right supervisor.

  • What's your cancellation policy?
Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours' notice are billed at the full rate.

  • How do I pay?
Payment is due at the time of service, via check or debit/credit. Supervision and consultation cannot be billed to insurance.
